Lee Westwood wins the Race to Dubai after an extraordinary finish to the European Tour season at the DP World Tour Championship.
Lee Westwood is a red, he hates Derby
Just shows how many poor the European golf isprese toy if the likes of Westwood can win it! Yawn fest ???? ?? ??
Why so much hatred for Reed? Not many USA players cam e over, and he he gave it his all, to come up a little short. We got a nice result with westy winning. Hope he keeps fit for taking on the us seniors tour.
Been an odd year. I feel those who have actually played well on the European Tour haven't collected the correct points to reflect that. You can basically win either a major or a WG tournament and be in pole position to win something that you have barely took part in.
Things need to change moving forward as that would have been embarrassing if PR had won the Race to Dubai.

I can not remember the last time the PGA Tour gave us that kind of drama.
Absolutely thrilling victory by Yorkshire's finest again, and well done to the King of the European Tour Lee Westwood.
Going back to play station golf is going to be monotonous after this event?
Golf will always be bigger than any one ( or 2 ) players.
Well done to Viktor for another sterling effort.
Bob? Oh dear.

I love it when people with small men syndrome put comments like this on. They obviously don’t understand how much skill is needed in this game, so much more than sports like rugby and football. They earn millions of pounds and if they have the skill, good luck to them. Would you turn the millions of pounds down if you were good at any sport. Small man syndrome can be treated I think. Hehehe
Great results all round, Westwood has had a very consistent year and deserves to win R2D, especially considering he really helped support the tour a lot when it restarted in the summer. Hope he can still keep it going for a few more years at least
Also great to see Fitzpatrick win today too, seems like a lovely chap and I really think he has what it takes to win a Major soon

Excellent Golf from all of them.
So pleased to see Lee winning the Race to Dubai, and his comments about the Ryder Cup afterwards were really excellent and well thought through.
Really pleased for Matt Fitzpatrick as well. So close to nailing both.

I see that the postman failed yet again to deliver..??
Well done Matthew Fitzpatrick on winning Lee Westwood for being so consistent and winning the Race to Dubai. Two Englishmen on top.
Well done fitz and westy keeps the flag flying high for GB and shows we're no pushovers, impressed by young scot RM so future looking good ????????
Reed had so many bogeys I think he should have a COVID test.
I'll my coat.
I'll my coat.
Well done Lee Westwood , consistency personified throughout your career. Matt Fitzpatrick is a role model for some older European players who didn't play in Dubai . Hits it long and plays with humility doesn't make rash decisions on or off the course. Ryder Cup certainty !!!
Fitzpatrick, whilst having the other qualities you highlight, doesn't really hit it long. He knows that on this course, a low ball trajectory enables him to run it on so that his numbers this week are better than usual. He really is a top golfer but, unless the PGA actually wake up to what is happening with big hitters, players like Fitzy won't get all the wins their and effort talent deserves.
Well done Lee Westwood great stuff!
Still need to sort those 5/6 footers out.......to win a Major.
Laurie Canter has played well the last few months....has the length and good iron play but needs to sort his chipping out,.... its been a good few months for the UK golfers!

Utter rubbish, your obviously a sad Poulter fan who is desperately grasping at straws.
When it comes to Poulters form what’s he actually achieved since the days you refer to (ZILCH)!!..
I think he should now be called “The golfer who never was.”
And yes, I am an avid golfing fan particularly of genuine professionals but not of the over egotistical Poulter who thinks he’s better than he his...

It is no doubt a pity that Lee will probably never win a major championship, however, he is an infinitely better player than many major winners.
Why did canter not chip onto the green when he double bogeyed. That said Reed took and age to play that hole.
He had already tried, and duffed it back to his feet. That putt was his third shot, and he had already seen Fitzpatrick almost make a horlicks of the shot already. High drama for us though.
Great finish to the golfing season, super on the edge of your seat stuff until the very end. 47 year old Westy with a dodgy back, hope to see him at the Ryder Cup.
Won’t bother watching the snore fest that is the women’s US Open, pales into the laughable compared to the skill on show this morning.

Lee Westwood will always be considered one of Britain’s and Europe’s finest golfers, even though he’s never quite been able to cap his outstanding career with a major win.
Great result for him to win the Race To Dubai and a reward for his consistency this year.
Well done, fella.

Thang God the odious Reed didn't win
How about "2 birdies in the last 3 holes give Westwood the No. 1 spot in Europe"? Typical BBC, if its not Rory or Tiger it must be a fluke. Well done Lee over the whole season, strange as it has been.
Westwood has been a great player over four decades. Great attitude and work ethic. Is playing the game for fun as others his age have fallen away. His putting has improved tremendously of late which is a factor in his success this year. If he can putt out of his skin next year he’s a great chance in one of the majors to complete his career! He’s not keen on playing Ryder Cup - been there done it!
Amazing, awesome player and brilliant guy! Well done Lee!!

Seriously though brilliant job Lee, well deserved, see you down the city ground hopefully soon!

And of course your comments are in no way affected by issues of nationality, patriotism or chauvinism ! IIRC, Hovland tore things up in US college golf, so the signs of great promise have been there for a while.
Young Victoria has done well without the crowds, will be interesting to see how he copes if we get back to normality as he was struggling before covid. he has become Americanised, have you heard his accent lol embarrassing, clone of gmac.
We don't need him in Ryder cup as we have plenty GB and Ire players better than him ????????

anything won during covid restrictions carry an asterisk especially when the top ranked players are missing, so victoria has practically won nothing to write home about,????????
The long, dark winter nights must fly by for Mrs Maksi...if there is a Mrs Maksi.

Have you met him? I sat behind him on the plane on the way to Crans for the European Masters. Spoke to him for about 15 minutes in the airport baggage area. He signed my Mum's birthday card. Met him several times at the event as well. He's a great bloke but doesn't trust the press, so they always write negative things about it. Try and find out for yourself; he really is a great guy.
With the press, once you have a history of any sort, that's all they tend to think about when they look for material to fill up their articles. And unfortunately, Patrick Reed has generated for himself quite a lot of negative history. It's a very difficult impasse to break unless one side is willing to do something to change the situation.

Thank you HABlet for your post. I ignore most of what this superglammy character posts as its offensive. As you can see my post above is not remotely offensive to anyone.
Legend in Ryder Cup
Mediocre in Majors - a mere 10 Top 10 finishes - same as Casey

Might I be so bold to suggest that if 3 of the Majors were played in Europe and only 1 in the USA then Lee would have 19 Majors by now?

Just as well they don't have another round to play or it would be an 88 on the card for MacIntyre.
What happened 'Bob'?

Like Rory he has no ticker mate. Plays great golf when there is no pressure on.
Now that I say that I also play great golf when under no pressure, and I drive a truck for a living. Removed

Predictable and as boring as usual - meanwhile Bob closes in on a top 50 ranking with a tournament win tucked away and millions in the bank while you bleat from a keyboard.

So you now ignore my comment about McGinley and McDowell with regard to their thoughts on MacIntyre? MacIntyre would weaken our team enormously.
I posted that I think Westwood is a far better golf player than Harrington despite what they have won with regards to Majors.
I can not stand the attitude of MclLroy but you are going to have to help me out with regards to racism regarding any of this.

feel so sorry for laurie-that double cost him half a mill
Me too. He hit a great iron to that difficult hole and it just failed to creep over the edge which would have allowed the ball to run down to the hole side.
Everybody at the end was struggling with that shot and Fitzpatrick's attempt was much worse, landing half way down the hill and stopping by the edge of the longer grass.
From there Laurie made a horlicks of his short game but it wasn't easy.

what a relief that Reed didn't win. Why are americans even playing on the European tour? and why are tournaments in the USA designated as being part of the european tour?
To be fair lots of Europeans play on the PGA Tour. It’s the fact that Reed has played 2 events on the European Tour and was in with a shout of the RTD that needs looking at. How is that fair on the players who play the European Tour
Many Europeans play in usa , but agree it’s only the big events in Europe that have big money that attracts usa players . And with the WCG and Rolex events and majors being included in European schedule and rankings it’s possible a player from usa could challenge as these events give more points per event

A truly outstanding achievement at 47 when the depth of talent in the pro ranks is the deepest in history. Chuffed to bits for him. Putting has improved and short game better than at any point in his career. A major isn't beyond his grasp but history is against him at his age. There wouldn't be a more popular winner I believe.
Why the Reed hating?
At least he and Morikawa, who has commited to play the European Tour next year as week, bothered to turn up.
Yes they were in with a chance of winning the Race to Dubai but I'm pretty sure that if Rose, Rham, McIlroy and all the other superstars of Europe had been in with a shout they would have turned up too.
Poor support shown to our tour from these elite(ist) players.

All the moaning about the quality of the European tour , it’s as good as its ever been . when ever a good European goes to the PG A tour they often do well . Just look at knox never made it in Europe but wins in usA this year
Knox hasn't won for years. In fact last win was on the European Tour.
He is finished now though.

I have to say that Lee is enjoying a new lease of life since moving up to Geordieland, and of course his caddie is a lovely Geordie lady!! It's all the sunshine and "warm-air" practice he gets up here!
Howay Lee !!
