Brexit: UK-EU talks continue as Navy boats put on standby
12/12/2020 | news | politics | 5,580
Four Navy boats get ready to patrol UK fishing waters in event of no deal, as negotiations resume.
“Johnson announces new world-beating Marine test-and-trace system. The £2bn contract has been awarded to a trusted contact who has little experience in the field and though has registered a new offshore company which is yet to be operational, assures that this will be ready and functional by 1st January 2021”

If you leave a club you can't expect to use its facilities. That's how it works for ordinary people. The trouble is it doesn't apply to people of Johnson's privileged background. Old Etonians have their old school tie network. The Bullingdon Club would welcome back an old member, especially if he paid for damages to the restaurants they trash. So he just doesn't get that actions have consequences.

Gunboats? That just about sums up the aggressive inward looking take on the world by the Brexiteers who yearn for the days of empire and ruling the waves. It won’t happen, the world has moved on to more egalitarian times and all citizens of the plant have a duty of care to their brothers and sisters of every nation. The Irish, Welsh and Scots seem to be able to be 'Nationalist' why not us English, or are we honorary Catalans and Basques, but without our own Parliament?
Because the Irish, Scots and Welsh seem to be able to do nationalism without the vitriolic hatred. When English Nationalism rears its head its usually in the form of Tommy Robinson etc predominantly surrounded aggressive white males demanding a return to Empire.

Or perhaps the media just portrays them as such, but none the less the difference between Robinson and, say, Salmond is quite stark.

Brexiteers - we have left, and the UK now has its sovereignty. The UK can either accept the deal, or walk away. We have a choice.

Stop acting like entitled brats as per the UK Tory ministers, the EU owes us absolutely NOTHING.

Absolutely the right thing to do, the EU needs to understand that we will be an independent nation which includes our waters. If they want to play games , I say bring it on. Entering our fishing waters after 1st January will be trespassing and as such we are entitled to defend our property, so if Mr Macron insists on this action then he must expect the retaliations which will follow.

Having first hand knowledge of the Syrian Civil war, dont joke about that

The over dramatization by some of UK population is what leads to term snowflake being so widely used

Most of us lucky not to know true hardship, suffering & object poverty. Hopefully we will never have to go to war, but UK pop needs to regain backbone, good life is not delivered on plate, it has been earned over centuries

Just a reminder

At the last election remainers had a whole party dedicated to remain. That party almost collapsed through lack of votes.

Even the party sitting on the Fence had its worse result for decades.

The party saying leave the EU won a landslide.

You can spin it anyway you want but a dozen sad remainers here dont make up a countries opinion. :-)

Absolutely pathetic flag waving nonsense. Of course our territorial waters need to be policed, but in the middle of a negotiation why this nonsense. The answer is to distract us from the glorious failure of this government of no deal. "A million to one chance", "an oven ready deal" and "a failure of statecraft" to not get a deal said Bozo. No deal = failure = resign. In business you would be fired

The remainers are usually big on international law they need to remember any none UK fishing vessel entering UK waters will be breaking international law after Jan 1st 2021.
No doubt Navy will ask them to leave and give them the opportunity to do so, if they do leave not their lines will be cut as another poster said, No one will die just alot of fishing gear will be lost that's all.

The EU politicians have failed to grasp what is meant by democracy. I wonder what BMW , Audi Mercedes, are currently thinking ? My guess is "big industry" will now start calling the tune in the EU to make a deal with the UK.

If the EU had helped the UK with a very successful Brexit, then a lot of the other 27 would also have decided to leave the EU. I guess that is why the EU did everything to mess it up to make it fail and try to make an example of the UK to put the rest off leaving.
If brexiters hadn't lied so much - as you're doing now - then perhaps the UK could have had a successful brexit. The EU offered the UK several things which the UK rejected because of its "red lines".

Nice try though!!!
