Brexit: Trade talks 'have reached critical stage'

The UK says it is still working for a deal, but the EU's mood is described as "gloomy".

Except that the EU wouldn't allow us to negotiate the trade deal until we had agreed the withdrawal agreement. Plus we couldn't even get a parliamentary mandate for leaving the EU legislation until November 2019. Before the GE, we had two pro leaving parties (Tory-Labour) filled with rebel proEU MPs. Only after Labour unwisely moved away from backing leaving legislation did parliament get unlocked

Complete tosh.

Lord Frost has been negotiating for just 9 months as initially Teresa May & Labour Party wouldn’t support exit, and then EU wouldn’t negotiate on trade until we left on 31st Jan 2020.

On more than 100 occasions when asked during the election campaign about a Trade Deal the leader of the Conservatives and many of this party said they had 'an oven ready deal'.
They said this any time they were asked about ANY deal whether WA or FTA.

This information is readily available on many election watchdog sites.

There, homework done.

Remain increasingly resembles a hate cult because decent remainers are not condemning the blanket accusation that leavers are racists. There is a case to make such accusations a hate crime. It is unacceptable and undermines democracy with a climate of fear and intimidation.

It is OK to assert that a remark or statement is racist. It is unacceptable to stereotype a group as racist without proof.
Nobody is saying all leavers are racist - that’s paranoia of the highest order.

But it remains a fact that most racists are rabid brexiteers.

So rather than deflecting, ask yourself this: just what is it about Brexit that is so appealing to racists?

Because of decades of our MP’s being bribed by Europe with a HALF A MILLION pound annual MEP ‘salary’, (look up the Kinnocks for example) the line has been fed to the British public that being in Europe is great for the British people when, in reality, it’s good for the Europeans trying to own our country and to tell us what we can and can’t do.
Make no mistake, Europe is NOT our our friend!

Brexit is biggest scam job in history, destroying economy due to lies, xenophobia & those scared of EU tax dodging rules.

UK economy - worst affected by 2008 financial crash, worst affected by Covid pandemic, now cutting off free trade & exports to by far our biggest market, with huge increase in bureaucracy & costs

Not really. Brexit is an important issue & some of us (with a modicum of understanding of the subject) are concerned about the outcome of this particular stage in the process. If you're not, fine.... Go away & don't waste your time, here & commenting.
The BBC has enough moderators to manage about 4 or 5 streams at any one time.
There are other important issues we could debate, but I notice if they might challenge the BBC's political agendas (their support of BLM for instance) they tend not to be opened.

Unfair, not necessarily an IQ test, but a test about what the EU is and what it does. Bit late checking on google after the referendum! Could be multiple choice. So the guy interviewed on TV the morning after the referendum who voted Brexit "To keep the Muslims out" would be ineligible for a start. As would anybody who prattled on about bendy bananas or "unelected elites".

Is this the time to say, 'Brexiteers, be happy with what comes next'? Happy Xmas and 2021 to the dullards (if that word's allowed) who voted leave. Same to Johnson and his cronies - a complete set of lying shysters.
The problem is, that if brexiteers are dullards then remainers would be cowardly scum - Fair to say neither statement has any basis in truth. Removed

"why is the EU worried about UK state aid, when Germany's is more than three times ours and France twice?"

You are ALMOST there. Try to think just a BIT harder.

TIP - the real question is: why does the UK not simply accept the EU demands on state aid, if we already give far less state aid than what the EU allows as maximum?

Well..?
Come on, you can do it!

Hurts, doesn't it?

Covid passport isn't going to happen. This is part of the Covid tracking conspiracy theory nonsense, much of it coming out of US.

Ah, I see agenda212030iswhy is being proactively moderated now (see iHYSdb & removed posts entirely blank). Can't say I'm surprised. QAnon has no place in UK.

61,000 dead is already 4 times as bad as a whole average 'flu year.
14,000 new cases today worse than any day up until the beginning of October.
Our economy in melt down.
I hope Brexit will be a lot less damaging - however, the damage will last much longer and there is no vaccine.
But, unlike Covid, it would have been so easy to avoid.
Rejoin is now the best remedy.

What are you saying?

That if we are not important we should be quiet?

Get stuffed yourself.

In a little while from now ??
If I'm not feeling any less sour ??
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower ??
And climbing to the top will throw myself off ??
In an effort to make it clear to whoever
What it's like when you're shattered ??
"No point in us remaining" ????
"We may as well go home" ??
As I did on my own
A moan again, naturally ??
