Negotiators will talk on Sunday, but "significant differences" between the two sides in post-Brexit trade talks remain.

They certainly do think so which is perhaps why he wants the police to have more powers and protection. His popularity has fallen to 29%, so he is far less popular in France than Trump was in the USA. This means he cannot give in on the sovereignty issue of the UK's territorial waters or else they will perhaps really think he is a mummy's boy.

I remember when we joined the EU, and suddenly the cost of food increased massively. Because all the cheap food we used to get from non-EU countries suddenly had EU tariffs whacked on overnight.

Yes, it will take time to rebuild those supply chains, but after the short-term disruption, we could end up with cheaper food.

I know many Brexiteers want a return to the 50's but what is about to happen is a return to the 70's (let's hope the music is as good). We will lose competitiveness and people will be urged to 'buy British.' The products will be universally rubbish and the taking back control agenda will end in class war (who has control?), expect strikes and disorder. All very predictable. Self destruction.

The UK, by proportion, has much more to lose in terms of the Automotive Sector.
EU's total automotive exports, based on available stats, were £445 bn, £49 bn of which were exported to the UK, (around 11% of EU's). By stark contrast, the UK's total automotive exports were £36 bn in 2016, £16 bn of which went to the EU, (44% of UK's exports).

We don't need protecting from our own (democratically elected) government. We need protecting from the EU. Some of their member states have the most corrupt governments in the world! They know our government is better. That's why they want to come here ;)
As for corrupt governments, the UK is the country that:

Had a parliamentary corruption scandal.
Has funneled billions of pounds to their chums this year without tender for critical services for which their chums were utterly unsuited to deliver.
Is the world capital for dirty money and money laundering.
