"My mates were lying yesterday, it wasn't enabled by Brexit, but my dad could beat up your dad!"

When will be rid of these overgrown schoolboys? Williamson, Rees-Mogg, Gove, and Johnson all talk like they're still running around in shorts, playing conkers, and pulling girls' pigtails. Barnier must wonder if its worth bothering with a country that can't elect grown-ups as leaders.

And what is even more pathetic is they are boasting about getting a few vials of a German-made vaccine a week or two earlier than other countries. Germany could be getting the first batch, but the truth is they don't need it. Because their government hasn't screwed up everything else about the pandemic, so doesn't need to rush it for either epidemiological or public relations reasons.

One thing all of this chaos show is that the only benefit to attending Eton & other private education establishments is access to the chumocracy - certainly Bozo & co fail to show evidence of receiving a better education. The chums have certainly done well with contracts out of our govt's failure to deal well with covid. Once they all derided experts now fortunately we still have some.

More depressing is that these Eton schoolboys know exactly what there saying and how silly it sounds. But they are not speaking to you or to others like you in Europe, America or elsewhere. They are speaking to a large constituency, rather like Trump voters in the US. And there are alot of them! And they all have a vote!

Quite. That anybody responsible for the 2020 exams debacle can dare - even in a hair-brained moment of 'light-heartedness' - to claim to any sort of personal or national superiority to our European neighbours (or almost anybody else for that matter, with the usual Trumpian exception) beggars belief. Quite so. Also when we are struggling to persuade people of the great benefits of vaccination and its' safety all these populist idiots like Williamson and Hancock do is hand ammunition to the anti-vaxxers. It is not populist. Populist is putting UK citizens first for jobs & housing in their own country, not pretending the UK is a race of supermen. It is training our own doctors, it is not allowing the Chinese to buy our best companies, and keeping manufacturing going in the UK.

Totally agree. Pulling out of EU scientific & research organisations is destructive and thinking that offering replacement funding makes it okay misses the point. The best science (or research in any field) is achieved by collaboration, so why destroy our science & research links with our nearest neighbours? If the pandemic has taught us anything it is that international cooperation is essential.

Williamson makes me sick! The vaccine was such nice news until he couldn't abstain to make it political ammunition. Claims the EU held up the vaccine is rubbish and has been stated by UK govt experts. Also, maybe he should think about how many foreign medical doctors/scientists (EU and non-EU) are actually working in the UK/on the vaccine. When it comes to CV19, we actually are in this together.

He's right, we do have some of the best scientists in this country. Because (a) they were educated before he became Education Secretary and (b) a lot of good scientists come to this country because of the research institutions set up long ago. More jingoistic nonsense from the BREXIT campaign party (lets face it they have been 'world beating' at anything else). The MHRA appraised the vaccine under EU rules as this is the law. That they did it so quickly represents a lot of hard work by the team and may be a good thing but I worry speed could be a bit of an own goal if it affects public confidence in the vaccine.

Rees-Mogg said that we could approve this "because we are out of EU" - despite the EU rules still applying.

This was approved under the EU rule, which - as he well knows - have the "emergency" clause.

But they won't stand for facts or laws stand in the way of jingoistic rhetoric - not while there's an audience to lap it up (albeit only on the front bench and in the DM)

It is down to the electorate.......choose from what is on offer, or if you think you could do better stand for election yourself. Judging by the number complaining the ballot paper could be a mile long!

"choose from what is on offer, or if you think you could do better stand for election yourself"

1) The majority of what's on offer is terrible
2) Most votes make no difference anyway due to the electoral system
3) I would make a terrible MP. I would make a terrible F1 driver, but that doesn't mean I can't criticise bad F1 drivers or bad MPs

I did. But the sheeple voted for the same two parties that their grandparents voted for despite both candidates being party yes men.

It’s the two party system that needs fixing. There are plenty of great candidates who want to represent their local area but they always loose out to candidates who put their party first.

It’s not down to the 21st century electorate left with Victorian parties

Unbelievably juvenile! Oh wait, what else is to be expected from this government.
