England venture into the not-so-wild West
27/11/2020 | sport | rugbyunion | 872
Without the febrile atmosphere of the Principality Stadium, Wales go into Saturday's meeting hoping for, rather than believing in, victory.
The Taffs (Scots joining them) already acting like idiots this morning.

BA Twitter page wished the England team well for today. Celts like WW3!

BA sponsor the England team and Twickenham on the flight path to Heathrow. They DON’T SPONSOR the Celts.

Celts having a melt-down lol!

Yet BT sponsor Scotland...
Lottery (mostly English contributed) money needed for the M/P Stadium...

It’ll be a good result for our little neighbours not to get absolutely stuffed out of sight. Now Gatland isn’t at the helm they’re back to being bang average, just hoping he doesn’t revert to his Welsh favs for the lions tour next year. AWJ is past his best and there’s not many that get in ahead of our thoroughbreds at all.

England by 20 in what looks like a training session against a club side!

Wales fans need to accept that the team that went to the 2011 world cup represented a 21st century golden age in Welsh rugby.

They wasted it on Warrenball, Biggar the kicker and annoying England.

I'm afraid it's going to be back to usual, 40 defeats to the SH teams and an occasional home win against England where you dream of the 70s
Win, draw, lose or spanked, Welsh people wake up every morning and thank the Lord they are Welsh. They revel in their culture.
England has no culture and no identity as a Nation - they have NO IDEA what they are missing!
It's why a certain type of "English" like you (not all) who have no cultural claim to be Irish, Scottish or Welsh, seethe and fester in their jealousy of their neighbours. Sad.

Yes you're right England has no culture or identity.
So what has that got to do with a game of rugby, apart from its xenophobia?
What ‘culture’ do the Welsh have exactly???

Hardly made a mark on the world! Much of the ROW hardly knows who you are!

Barely leaves these shores and then you are so self adulating and full of yourselves!

Your CV is threadbare!

You can’t sing, can’t write poetry, can’t mine & you still haven’t won the RWC.

I wake up exceptionally proud to be English.

As many have said, a desperately poor article, harking back to over 20 years ago.
Imagine if an English band had put a similar record out, we'd never hear last of it. I recall thinking at time how poor taste it was and nothing has changed.

Anyway, irrelevant for today. Really looking forward to game, it'll be brutal.
As I've said before Wales can definitely win but England firm favourites on form
Yeah, that kind of chip on the shoulder comes from a deep sense of inferiority.
Imagine walking round constantly feeling that you are in the shadow of someone else, measuring your sense of self using them as your yardstick. While all the time, they just carry on going about their life barely noticing you. Tragic...but also quite funny.

Guys can I ask you all to think about something other than hurling abuse across the forum. A mate of mine lost his wife this week to cancer, there are hundreds of deaths every day to Covid, people losing their jobs. So a game of rugby between old adversaries should be seen as a welcome respite to all the crap out there, not an excuse to insult and degenerate each other. Banter not abuse please.

I was about to post ‘was the JPR incident not carried out by a Frenchman?’ Just googled it. I have for years always thought it was in an international against France. Old age and real ale probably not a good mix. But you’re right, what would they have had to do to get a red? Also in the article I googled, 40 years on and no apology.
On S4C by the way in case you want to watch. Just sign up for an account to watch. Nice of the BBC to INFORM us (not) of how we can watch.
Ken Owens, ex Wales hooker as a commentator, get that.
But "Catrin Heledd"? I do not get it.

I'm English but I grew up in Wales.

This is the match that the Welsh always want to win. They will be up for it - I don't think some English realise what it REALLY means to them.

Wales always want to win - always have, even when England had weakened sides. They didn't go around saying "Ahh but England were below strength". They just celebrated winning.

So come on England!!!!
