A dying duck it may be but that doesn’t stop the BBC spending £700K of licence payers money on the two presenters each series
If the BBC wants to spend this amount of money on these two it should be funded by a subscription not by a legally enforceable tax on everyone who watches TV

Look at all these Gammons absolutely fuming at the idea that so much as 1 person on TV isn't a straight white 55 year old.

I never saw them complaining about all the straight people on TV for the past 70 years, but as soon as one lesbian turns up on their TV set, they start raging hard.

There is no "woke agenda". You obviously just hate gays having the same right to be on TV as everyone else.

I know, the sooner the UK gets back to ramming the straight, white socially conservative agenda down our throats the better eh? Some are gay, representation of that shouldn't need to generate such a fuss. Gay people have hetero-normativity rammed down our throats all day every day, thi s will make a nice change.

Not sure what the "oh my god" is all about as TV has been ramming it for years now, especially on soaps.

Some people though actually believe soaps & copy cat, that is the danger.

Ramming an agenda labelled as equality. No problem with equality at all. Have an issue with over representation/bias and the confusing miasma taught to children and how the longer term impact on children. Underdeveloped are being filled with information about genders/sex etc and how you can change sex merely by thinking it, effectively saying a societal construct beats scientific fact!

I suppose making a comment about a show that I have never watched could, justifiably, be considered irrelevant. But here goes anyway: Women’s sport has been distorted and damaged by questionable participants who effectively deny any others from medals and due praise. What! Why is she a questionable participant to a woman’s sport? Because she has short hair and is gay? She’s not a mtf transsexual! She’s just a boyish lesbian and has all the tackle and hormones she needs to participate in her sport legally.

All citizens, with & without faith, observe principles that murder, rape & theft are immoral & wrong.
Homosexuality? Apparently if you continue to observe that as immoral & wrong you are "stuck in the past". The original form of the Christian scripture, prior to the era of "progressive" fake Christians, says there can be no place in heaven for supporters of homosexuality. Shame on Strictly!!

The BBC has a duty to accurately reflect the society we live in. Those minorities also pay the licence fee. How do you define 'annoys'?. You just use the word 'woke' to represent a collection of opinions you aren't willing to engage with, understand and discuss. Have you ever considered your generation to be the equivalent to the previous generation? I expect as a society we could be considered'woke' to the Victorians for god's sake.
As a gay person I find the need for a same sex dancing partnership a joke. The panel has had two irons for most of its existence (if anyone believes Craig and Bruno are straight well, welcome to reality) so there is no need for ridiculous 'inclusivity'. Gammons are just mad that finally there will be someone on the show that isnt a 55 year old straight white person.
I've always watched Strictly but I'm abstaining this year. I'm happy to watch any dancer who happens to be gay but I won't tolerate the BBC strutting its virtuousness centre stage. There are reasons why one partner has to be male. Ms Adams would be welcome if she were dancing with a man who could perform the full range of lifts. Do the judges have to make allowances? I suppose making a comment about a show that I have never watched could, justifiably, be considered irrelevant. But here goes anyway: Women’s sport has been distorted and damaged by questionable participants who effectively deny any others from medals and due praise. Now we see further intrusion into the once pleasant and well balanced pastime of ‘dance’. Many followers will not like this. Removed
What! Why is she a questionable participant to a woman’s sport? Because she has short hair and is gay? She’s not a mtf transsexual! She’s just a boyish lesbian and has all the tackle and hormones she needs to participate in her sport legally.

This and thousands of comments on here are - I’m sorry - prejudice and ignorant. And that’s not being woke it’s just not being a decent person.

The fact that the BBC has to drive this agenda is clear from some of the comments. You dinosaurs might want to live back in the 70’s some us don’t. I never see any body complaining about boardroom pay or footballers why save the vitriol for the BBC. Most will have Sky and Grady handover £600/year. It remains value for money and a cherished institution. Truly pathetic.
I much preferred Come Dancing with Terry Wogan and Angela Rippon. Strictly is dumbed-down rubbish with 5th rate celebs and ugly politicians, some war criminals. Removed

Do you have to dance with someone of the same sex if you are gay then?
Yeah I thought you were supposed to be dancing, not sh*gging?!

Can a guy refuse to dance with a woman because she is not attractive enough and he doesn't want to sleep with her?

It's a gender equal sport. 50/50 split. Who you want to sleep with is irrelevant.

Alas that should be the case. But the woke have to ram sexuality into things where it isn't appropriate all the time.

Nichola Adams may be gay but her dance partner isn't.

So if this is all about some ridiculous notion of gay identity/celebration then shouldn't the pro dancer be a lesbian as well?

Yes mate, let's cut to the chase, let's tell it like it is - sodomy is not normal human behaviour. Sex is for making babies. Sodomy can't achieve that. Dress it up any way you like, but underneath it all, that is the basic truth of it. It's not normal. It can't be. Otherwise, we'd all be doing it. Removed

Only the terminology is mutually exclusive. The oppression and violence is the same in both cases. But the word has changed its meaning recently. For example, how is Boris a 'fascist'? He's called it all the time.

Think you need to look up fascism - form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy.
I think you do too if you believe Lenin was not a left wing fascist. Removed
Do the majority control the Country and the news agenda or an unelected, greatly subsidised, quango??? Removed
Neither. Nobody is in control. Everybody is doing their own thing.

The word "control" is a bit strong I always thought that the public set the news agenda. Newspapers only print stories that sell .TV only broadcast programmes and content that attract viewers . As there is diversity in public opinion and taste then then a free media reflects that.

Interesting comments here it seems if you are right wing you are automatically a racist and if you are left wing you are a tree hugging weak minded libertarian? Can you not have a socialist racist then? Or right wing tycoon who supports migrant charities?
Just remember that strong opinions are usually unbalanced, we’re not defined by Left & Right, our refusal to listen to others will destroy us.

Why can a gay person not dance with a person of the opposite sex? That's what ballroom dancing is (or was) about. And, bearing in mind that mammals reproduce by means of male/female sexual intercourse, if homosexuality were normal there'd not only be no homosexuals or heterosexuals, there'd be no human race. I think the BBC are correct to focus on sexual orientation. Indeed, I believe everyone should have to wear a badge displaying their orientation so that we can instantly determine whether we should listen to their point of view. We can see skin colour so that is easy to identify worthiness. Sarcasm aside, isn’t this the logical destination of the madness of identity politics.

If you're straight, imagine growing up in a world where you never saw any straight couples dancing, holding hands, kissing. It would have a massive impact on your self esteem. So please don't begrudge the BBC showing two women dancing together: this can have a huge positive impact on young LGBTQ people and that's something to celebrate.
