I'm sure many who have not been so fond of Softly CD in recent years would come back because they want to see how the attempt of fairytaleness would work in social distancing times.

Could they put on a good show when things are not going the Fairy like way with reduced audience.

Yesterday was a good start.

A dying duck it may be but that doesn’t stop the BBC spending £700K of licence payers money on the two presenters each series
If the BBC wants to spend this amount of money on these two it should be funded by a subscription not by a legally enforceable tax on everyone who watches TV

Biffo you're watching a show about ballroom dancing. All the glitter, tight waists and glamour - has it never accrued to you before.? Good luck with that.
Look at all these Gammons absolutely fuming at the idea that so much as 1 person on TV isn't a straight white 55 year old.

I never saw them complaining about all the straight people on TV for the past 70 years, but as soon as one lesbian turns up on their TV set, they start raging hard.

There is no "woke agenda". You obviously just hate gays having the same right to be on TV as everyone else.

I know, the sooner the UK gets back to ramming the straight, white socially conservative agenda down our throats the better eh? Some are gay, representation of that shouldn't need to generate such a fuss. Gay people have hetero-normativity rammed down our throats all day every day, thi s will make a nice change.

Its not woke. Its called equality
Not sure what the "oh my god" is all about as TV has been ramming it for years now, especially on soaps.
Soaps seem to have more people of sexual differences and killers than real society.
Some people though actually believe soaps & copy cat, that is the danger.

Theres being overly PC which could reduce free speech.

Ramming an agenda labelled as equality. No problem with equality at all. Have an issue with over representation/bias and the confusing miasma taught to children and how the longer term impact on children. Underdeveloped are being filled with information about genders/sex etc and how you can change sex merely by thinking it, effectively saying a societal construct beats scientific fact!

bbc is obsessed with minority issues as they ignore major issues affecting huge swathes of people who were their audience but still paid their tv tax to pay for this, in many cases, many of them are now dead. Its amazing how often bigots think about gay people, I swear they think of homosexuality more than gay people do, hate seeing them on TV? Ask yourself why you feel so strongly on the issue, is it because of a deeply hidden desire of your own that you're scared to realise? Its not the media turning you gay sweety, its just your real feelings fighting the repression, embrace it and live.

All citizens, with & without faith, observe principles that murder, rape & theft are immoral & wrong.
Homosexuality? Apparently if you continue to observe that as immoral & wrong you are "stuck in the past". The original form of the Christian scripture, prior to the era of "progressive" fake Christians, says there can be no place in heaven for supporters of homosexuality. Shame on Strictly!!

No. By definition a majority means more than 50%. White British males do not make up 50% of the UK population. Therefore, purely on mathematics, the first comment was correct and you are in fact wrong. The correct terminology (whether or not you agree with the context) is biggest/largest minority.

It doesn 't so two girls or boys dancing together shouldn't be newsworthy. However, that the national broadcaster have opened it up for comment knowing what sort of cave dwellers it will drag out says a lot about how far gay people have yet to go in the UK.

After the way the UK has treated its gay citizens over the hears, Turing and section 28 etc... It's the very least the national broadcaster could do. If some struggle to cope with a bit of gay representation for an hour on a Saturday instead of the usual ingrained hetero-normativity then that's their problem. Love they neighbour etc... etc... life's too short for hate.

Because the BBC is now engaged in multiple for-profit productions and the truly awful BritBox pay rubbish, a Licence Fee can no longer be justified. I'm sick and tired of catwalk presenters like Munchetty who get paid a fortune & moonlight at the same time. Scrap the Licence fee NOW.

Graham Norton summed up the problem with this. Its about equal judges assessment, not being gay.

A decade ago we'd reached a point of seeing past skin colour and sexuality, but now it's all the woke left ever see. Constant one-upmanship to see who can be the most progressive.

And who's surprised when the media are just uni graduates, brainwashed by "Gender Studies" left-wing looney lecturers.

Believe me, the UK has not got anywhere near seeing past skin colour of sexuality. The day a gay couple generate as many comments as the colour of a person's eyes your comment will have a train of truth to it. The UK has had to be dragged kicking and screaming to treat all manner of minorities with dignity over the years and the insult 'woke' is another example of that. Shameful really.

Half the judges are gay, and no one was bothered about that, so saying this is anti homosexuality is disingenuous. But maybe Graham Norton is right. Why shouldn't it be a man and woman competition for equal judging? They are not being asked to date their partbers (even though a lot do!). Being gay shouldn't stop you from interacting with the opposite sex.

The judges will be looking at costumes, fluidity of movement, lead and follow technique, poise, posture, technical precision, understanding and engagement with the music, whether the dancers are enjoying themselves and if it's a good dance.

Spot on, no couple is there to show their love for one another or their sexual preference, they are there to dance in such a way that a comparison can drawn between couples and that judgement is not a matter of nodding to the woke.

There would be a bit of an outcry from women if a pair of men (Nadal & Djokovic) entered the Wimbledon ladies doubles as it would be a walk over for them or a group of 15 year old boys entered the women's world cup and hammered the ladies world champions, oh right the latter did happen, 5-2. The judging argument is just stupid.
A) They’ve never had equal judgement assessment - half the couples have a male amateur (who is expected to lead) and half a female.
B) They can still designate who is leading the dance and judge on that basis.
C) The voting public have a total different set of voting criteria anyway.
D) This is only an entertainment show - the judging is NOT that important!

The UK abolished slavery after it was carried out throughout human history. The loans we took out to do it were so vast they were still being paid back 200 years later. Everyone who's had a job the last decade has paid that loan off.

It's telling if someone insists on identifying & proclaiming what minority group they consider themselves to be a member of, particularly when it's irrelevant to the current situation (e.g. "gay gravedigger" as an intro). They make an issue of it, then vilify others for make an issue of it. Yes, it's still an issue, the issue is them being convinced it's one-sided and/or that others want to know.

The BBC has a duty to accurately reflect the society we live in. Those minorities also pay the licence fee. How do you define 'annoys'?. IMHO, it 'annoys' people because they are uncomfortable with it. Not surprising after centuries of social stigma & religious intolerance conditioning on society.
