Exeter 31-27 Racing 92

Exeter Chiefs have just enough to keep Racing 92 at bay and clinch their first Champions Cup title in a thrilling final at Ashton Gate.

Owens is just so biased towards English sides. The “penalty” Hidalgo-Clyne won should have been penalty to R92 for side entry. Several acts of foul play by Exeter missed by officials and no penalty try for deliberate knock on. I can only imagine that the money men of the RFU are behind this.

We are only a small city but we punch above our weight and play as a very cohesive team. Rob Baxter even went to my high school. We are proud of him and Exeter. Owen called time off with about 30s left because he felt Exeter were delaying their decision. When they elected to kick at goal, Owen correctly said time on, but for some reason the clock wasnt started.

Simmons was entitled to take a minute over the kick, so it was the end of the game.

So where was the cheating?

I thought that was a brilliant game..two fantastic sides but both able to throw in the odd bad decision and that kept the game on an edge after Zebo's try. The last turnover on the line 14 vs 15 and then clock run-down with the forwards was brilliant, tough minded rugby... nd the clock was definitely red..it didn't get 5 off and it didn't restart for 20 after Owens called time on....

Well done Chiefs - superb - from a Wasps fan. R92 also deserve huge credit. Although Chiefs didn’t play at all like they could. They looked nervous in attack and got caught narrow in D.

Also, the game did not flow partly due to the breakdown which was an absolute mess with Nigel Owens failing to implement the new directives. R92 players off their feet and sealing off time and again.

He's had 4 down votes, but it's a really good point. What Exeter have done is beyond belief, but if other teams decide that this 'style' is the blueprint for success, then rugby will have a massive problem very soon.

Maybe. But, possibly with the exception of this match, Exeter execute their 'style' with necessary precision to make it effective which other teams do not seem to be able to do. In any case, if all teams start to play in a similar way, one team or another will find an alternative style of play that gives a winning advantage.

Honest Abe, even if in your undoubtedly qualified opinion it WAS a penalty try, it would have been cancelled out by the try that WAS wrongly awarded to Racing to make it 28-24, as the Racing prop was in front of the hooker who scored & blocked 3 Chiefs players from making the tackle.
Better team won.
