A lot of people rave about Pep but until he wins the league and FA Cup double with Man City, he’ll never be regarded as one of the great managers to have graced the English topflight.

Only Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson, Bob Paisley and Howard Kendall have managed the double.

Can't see any point in the lower leagues, who rely on gate money, playing. Might as well mothball the grounds and sack/lay off the players and other staff. That's because Arteta is setting them out to achieve that. City knew Arsenal would not threaten them in the 2nd so just eased off themselves. They get the points, Arsenal get to say well we didn't get thrashed. Do the math.

Arsenal will never do well with the current goalkeeper and the way the play starts; the ball is passed to the nearest fullback who is inevitably attacked by the forwards - of any team. We create a crisis, struggle to leave our defensive area, and invite continuous attacks and unnecessary shots on goal. In an afterthought, I guess we sold the good one and are left with a less good goalie!!

Totally agree with you. A massive improvement in Arsenal. Both goalkeepers were busy for different reasons. City's keeper was busier in saving shots while Arsenals keeper was busier as Arsenal built from the back.

One reason maybe was KDB's noticeable absence and some strange formation from Pep.

Gary Neville needs to take off his red tinted glasses when commentating on City's game; in fact Sky better save every one and take him off at all.

United fans perspective. Very even game and even the stats back that up. Difference is:

1. City put away their one chance, Arsenal didn't put away two good ones.

United fans perspective. Very even game and even the stats back that up. Difference is:

1. City put away their one chance, Arsenal didn't put away two good ones.
2. Arsenal were denied a clear penalty, no idea how it wasn't given.

Shame Partey didn't start because he looked composed with very intelligent position when he did come on.

Both of these teams will be up their. United will not.

There doesn't have to be contact. Gabriel withdraws his head because of the high foot. Thus it is already a foul as he has forced the player to adjust as a result of foul play. Not to mention, kicking the ball into a face at the proximity will still cause a great deal more forced than had their heads collided. Its still a highly dangerous manoeuvre.
Its a clear penalty.

That was a disappointing performance for me, I felt City were average, they didn't need to be that great to win. I feel like we've gone from being too open in defence to too timid in attack. Lots of slow backwards and sideways passes

Can't see any point in the lower leagues, who rely on gate money, playing. Might as well mothball the grounds and sack/lay off the players and other staff. That way they'll still be viable when fans are allowed back in. As it stands, with no end in sight, they're presumably mostly heading for liquidation.

Absolutely useless going forward Arsenal were.

I think though, that had Arsenal played the same way but scored a couple of breakaway goals. your post might have been different. City, though, now have a good defence, even without Laporte playing.

But if City had scored 27 more it would have been so embarrassing for Arsenal. Arteta would have probably been sacked too!

Fan tv would have been fantastic though!

If you’re referring to the “high foot” incident, my guess would be that it wasn’t given because there was no contact.

doesn't need to be contact, just dangerous play

Well done. Only £480M spent to finally get a clean sheet. I hope it makes yoi very happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life Man City.

We generally always beat the mediocre gunners apart from the odd fa cup semi final. We're just too good for them. The cream always rises to the top. Blue moon, you saw me standing alone, without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own. C'mon Citeh! ??????????

Neutral here but would not say Arsenal were mediocre. They had you worried second half.

Wonder how Arsenal will spin this into the 'continue to improve' narrative.

We lost 3-0 last time at City in the PL. Is that a start?

Yeah but at what time do you stop saying 'continue to improve' or 'a work in progress' before the team ( and the Manager ) start getting judged and criticised like every other club does. In Arsenal's case, and Frank Lampard too, it can't go on for ever

looking at the stats City edged a tight game and won a 6 pointer at the top end of the league

Predictions
1st Reds
2nd city
3rd Arsenal
4th anybody be advised the gulf between 1st and 2nd may be wider than the gulf between 4th and 5th

A "welcome to the Premier League" yellow card for Partey there.

I suppose he'll be Mike Dean's punchbag as well

City look good with Dias at the back-seems like a good signing.

We have improved massively and for any team who gets Liverpool and City away within the first 5 games is a tough task-but we gave good performances in both.

Limiting City to 5 shots (us 3) when they have taken us apart at will in the past is a step in the right direction but now we need to see some improvement in the final third.

Arteta should have started Lacazette with Auba & then we would've seen some fun...

Oh well, now that Partey has arrived Arsenal's rise has begun!

Disappointed. Arsenal should stop dropping everyone back into their own half so much. Need to keep at least one, if not two up as just left City the opportunity to plough forward at will. City goal handed to them by our no.1 goalkeeper. Hope I’m wrong but he is going to cost us a lot of points this season.
