If Halfords has been listed as an Essential Provider and this is being challenged, the issuing authority should be asked first. Who has done this? Remember a lot of journos are working from home. What are their sources? Mails, social media, gossip and conjecture? This is the stuff of a chinese whispers game. Much of what is being put out is from questionable sources and unlikely to be accurate.
@34. (...) What are their sources? Mails, social media, gossip and conjecture? This is the stuff of a chinese whispers game. (...) -- You need to watch your language: you may be upsetting the PC brigade by saying "Chinese whispers". It's "Covid-19 whispers" these days... Removed

What progress are we making with Brexit ?
104. Russ "What progress are we making with Brexit ? " NONE! (and it must stay that way for ever.) Brexit is dead but Johnson is so terrified by far right extremists he dares not say so. 136. Posted byJohn_from_Hendonon 5 minutes ago You are a sad man Anyone who has seen the news that there are calls for fixed rate loans for a indeterminate period of time for Euro countries backed by the few net contributors with no end date in site will be very grateful that we are out. Also odd that China is the only country to have helped Italy with supplies, equipment and medical staff
So far there is no evidence that lockdowns actually work, take Italy for example, it's very much a "fingers crossed and hope for the best exercise". The next time they release a virus it might be much more deadly. We might not be so lucky. Removed

It's early days but increases in new cases have dropped in Italy for the last 3 days in a row. Lockdowns take 2-3+ weeks to show effect.

I read that the police broke up a barbecue somewhere in the Midlands. I don't understand - the government haven't said you can't have barbecues, so what's going on? I have a barbecue planned at the weekend to celebrate the clocks changing and I'm now totally confused about what to do. Removed

Re 631 You can have a family barbecue in your garden for those who live in your household but no one from outside. It is as simple as that. The one that the police disrupted was in a public place with idiots congregating and not social-distancing themselves

631 - Steve, it wasn't the BBQ per se but the fact that there were a large number of people (20+ & not from same household) attending. So if your BBQ is intended for your household ONLY, with no other guests or family members that don't live with you invited, that should be fine - plus it would make all those unable to attend truly jealous :)

631 steve " I read that the police broke up a barbecue somewhere in the Midlands. I don't understand " --- Yeah, I was a bit puzzled too, because my understanding is that the police's legal powers to enforce the lockdown don't come into force until Thursday. So it looks very much as if the West Midlands police are a bit out of control. Hopefully the officers involved will be disciplined.

@631 I have bbq I built.last year, and shall be using it many times over next 3 weeks and longer if this weather continues, my pool too as I have pump and filters so wont be over using water. But it will be only me and my 4 kids out there. I just hope there isn't a crackdown because people abuse it. And they ruin it for families, if they do there will be 15ft fence going up
