People have already started following Trump's advice and overdose on fish-tank chloroquine because they think it will save them from covid-19. Meanwhile, a Youtube "influencer" caught it after licking a toilet, and London's tube farce no doubt infected tens of thousands. People who don't want anything to do with the rest of the world refuse to look at what coronavirus is already doing elsewhere. "Nothing to do with us" they say. They won't take coronavirus seriously until it directly affects their own family. And then they will complain and try to find someone to blame.
