I remember a rubbish driver buying a seat in a rubbish car and beating Hamilton, Vettel, Alonzo. Why are manufacturers paying these guys so much, any good Kart driver could win in a Mercedes. To anyone that doesn't follow F1 it was Maldonado in a Williams.

@236 That was the race when Hamilton was on pole but demoted to the back of the grid due to a technical infringement. And anyway, you contradicted yourself "any good Kart driver could win in a Mercedes......Maldonado in a Williams."

LH will only struggle if Mercedes hire a half decent second driver. Many LH seem to have forgotten that he got beaten by journeyman Nico Rosberg. Poor old Nico had second best equipment and even got told to let LH past at Monaco GP. Still beat him over the year though. Bottas is tripe.

Mercedes are lightyears ahead of the other teams. The only thing they are doing wrong is not signing pay per drive pilots. I'm sure Lance Strolls dad would pay them £40M for his son to have a seat against Bottas. This would guarantee LS the championship and save them £90M pa! Alternatively why not a female WDC. That would also be easy with their car and provided only Bottas to beat.

Checkout the teams' history in F1.

Malldonado won in a Williams when they were already a poor team. He not only paid them £20M, he beat LH, FA, KR and all of the other prima donnas in well engineered cars.

Mercedes will turn everything down in testing, make Ferrari and Red Bull seem that they have caught them up. Then come first race their drivers with full beans will poodle round to a 1 - 2 result. Just in-case Bottas thinks he is in with a chance his car will be turned down a little from the pit lane. Its becoming a bore.

@307. c4t2yjak ... Its becoming a bore. *** That can be sorted by bringing back more of the knowledgea le, intelligent and amusing characters for F1 tv commentary - one example is Eddie Jordan
