Was Ferrari's 2019 car rule breaking and found out towards end of season causing significant loss of performance in finak races? Was Charles more willing to exploit controversial car performance in 2019 thsn Seb? Does Redbull Honda car of 2020 have an unidentified rule breaking performance carried through from 2019? Think about the swings of wins between driner and teams in 2019.

Lewis is a great driver no doubts. He is the only driver to not come from money that drives an F1 car. Give him the credit he deserves. He will rightfully sit with the greats. However to be the greatest driver you need to drive everything which he is yet to do. For that reason Mr Clark will sit at the top until he is bettered along with Mr Hill

However you have a point about those related to race drivers (Verstappen, LeClerc, Sainz, Rosberg, Button) and paydrivers (Perez, Stroll, Maldonado)

It will be interesting to see what happens over the first few races of the season, as no one knows how each car will behave in race conditions with other cars around.

7 Formula One world team championships Toto Wolf is clearly STUPID wasting £20 million plus on Lewis Hamilton's wage bill: for the cost of an average Brexit-UK bonus wage bill he could employ a Hamilton-hater to drive the 7 world driving champion's Mercedes F1 car. Surely makes sense as their 'Grannies" can win F1 grand prix in Hamilton's Mercedes F1 car? DELUDED IDIOTS

I've enjoyed watching Lewis from day 1. A true competitor, incredibly fast & aggressive while making minimal mistakes. He was competitive from his debut and I'm sure he will be until the day comes to retire. Moreover he seems to be getting better! There's not a more complete driver out there. His consistency is what really sets him apart from his rivals. And that is what wins Championships.

Agree with @273: Lewis been getting better look forward whether he continues in 2020 at Mercedes vs Bottas. Also watch the progress of: Ferrari's Leclerc vs Vetel; Redbull's Verstappen vs Albon; McLaren's Norris vs Sainz; and Renault's Ricciardo vs Ocon. Even better a pleasant surprise of step change in competiveness car/team performances vs Mercedes. 2020 is year of pretender to throne

I know very very little about F1 and I'm about to prove it. I've got a strong feeling that McLaren are going to do very very well this season. I'm talking about smashing out of the midfield and Sainz battling with Verstappen on track.

Watch out for in the 2020 F1 season is that it wil be the MAKE or BREAK season for the "once great" Williams team which finished last in 2019. In particular Claire Williams, the daughter of founding owner Frank Williams who earned the team multiple world championdhips in previous years, should reconsider her position as team principal if Williams finishes last again in 2020 two years in a row.

Shame for the sport and the many who wont be kidded that its wonderful.more people each year are not as motivated to watch F1.The facts speak for themselves... a dwindling audience, pay per view not suited to the masses ,c4 highlights program had its worse viewing figures ever, competetive races are few and far between. Its been the same for many years.Could this year be better?

@286. Paul I would suggestvit is pay perbview destrying the F1 fan base of the future. Greedy Ecclestone and CVC started this disastrous juggernaut but for a suitable fee I can sdvise the solution.

@294. & @292. Quack I disagree with you assertion. Claire Williams is a capable business leader but Formula 1 has claimed the scalps of many exceptional F1 team bosses. Great teams with great history should not be langhishing at the bottom - checkout McLaren ditching team bosses. Coming last twice end of season should be the end of Claire Wiiliams F1 team boss career in 2020.

I dont like Vettel am i racist? No. I dont like Hamilton am i racist? No. My fave driver is Kimi, is he the same race as me? No. DO i hate the others? No. Grow up Hamilton fans just because we dont like him it's nothing to do with colour etc. Just accept diversity as we have in drivers and our preferences. Or you too are just as bigoted as real racists are.

Mercedes are lightyears ahead of the other teams. The only thing they are doing wrong is not signing pay per drive pilots. I'm sure Lance Strolls dad would pay them £40M for his son to have a seat against Bottas. This would guarantee LS the championship and save them £90M pa! Alternatively why not a female WDC. That would also be easy with their car and provided only Bottas to beat.

Mercedes will turn everything down in testing, make Ferrari and Red Bull seem that they have caught them up. Then come first race their drivers with full beans will poodle round to a 1 - 2 result. Just in-case Bottas thinks he is in with a chance his car will be turned down a little from the pit lane. Its becoming a bore.
