As usual LH haters are out. What has this guy done that is appalling? He races cars and chooses to live a slightly different lifestyle than the majority of racing drivers. Good for him. I notice we weren’t all hating KR when he was out partying all the time, or banging on about Button when he moved to Monaco. I wonder if there is another reason for the LH???????

@140 course theres another reason , he prattles on about being blessed to much, lets his guard slip to show its all a game etc , so hes a brit so what hes still a prat, as for KR and JB course they partied and lived in monaco , but they didnt make arses out of themselves to the media , ok its my opinion, but im certainly not alone in thinking it

The situation is simple, give the best driver, the best car the result a winner. Add the fact that he does not make many mistakes and he comes out head and shoulders above the rest. The other are half a second off LH and in GP that is light years behind.

@136 true but it’s always been true in F1 however LH like MS before took a team on to dominate. He is different from other drivers (except MS) in that they did it for one or two seasons. He is a step up from SV who clearly had the best car for 4 seasons as over the past couple of seasons the Merc was not always the best but he put SV and Ferrari under pressure and they cracked.

Lewis Hamilton is not actually that good at driving. In tests he actually doesn't come out much better than the average adult male who's passed his driving test, which proves that he only wins because he's been given the best car - because the money men think he'll make them the most cash. Cynical really.

@147. When he lets his guard slip how does that prove he’s not blessed and that it’s a game? You are of course allowed your opinion, everyone is but opinions that are not based on evidence are worthless. If you can make a case to show he is a xxxxxxxx I will change my mind. Eg Tiger Woods is a great golfer but also an ******** based on the evidence of his bad behaviour. Can u share LH slips?

@150 very well said. I am with you on it is ol to dislike someone if there is good enough reason. Like for me I really dont like Giggs because of what he done to his brother. But to add to that I will add that does not mean he was not one of the best players ever. Factually it would be wrong to say so. He was an amazing player but hurrid to his brother

146. Posted byIrons45 I get it now when SV became 4 * champion it was clearly the car. When LH wins it is clearly the only the driver..............

@149. Think this comment was meant for me ??? If so that’s not what I meant. SV is a worthy champion but I feel LH and MS are a step above as both took teams onto dominate in cars that were not always the best cars throughout the entire season. Both needed great cars and the year NR won the WDC LH was at fault in a car that definitely was the stand out car all season.

@168 I think Leclerc will come out on top against Vettal this year. The only reason I think this I think vettal has lost his confidence when under pressure. A question for you do you think Renault can give DR a better car to compete in this year?

@172. You may be right if Ferrari and Le Clerc can pull themselves together. Also think if Honda can find some power for Reb Bull MV could challenge. Red Bull much less likely to make mistakes than Ferrari. I’ll still go for LH but think this will be his toughest year.

To those who blurt out the lazy and wrong racist jibe. If Lewis was white, people still would not warm to him. If people criticise anyone of colour it’s racist. If people criticise anyone not of an ethnic background it’s ok. How does that work? I am not a fan of Lewis but neither did I warm to Beckham. Racist? Who is to say who I can and cannot like?

@174 it goes down to your reasons. If u hate him coz of his partying then be consistent with all people who party, if u says it’s because he dodges tax in Monaco then hate JB as well. Racism is suggested coz he is criticised for reasons relating to his black heritage or those criticising him are not using the same criteria for judging white racing drivers.

@174 charlieboy His fans do that because its easy to label someone who doesn't agree with them. Like I support Anthony Joshua but I don't support Lewis but yet i have still been called that many times on here. There are some blatantly racist posters on here but labelling all non supporters of Lewis racist makes them just as bad as the actual racists themselves

@178 which is not dissimilar from someone saying I’m not racist I've got a black friend. I’m not suggesting u r racist and from the posts I’ve seen from u on here I am assuming u aren’t. My main beef is with the hatred and unsubstantiated claims rather than “I prefer other drivers” comments. As I said below as long as the criteria for criticism is consistent fine but for many on HYS it’s not.

@182 Wildsnoopster Yeah i get what you are saying and i agree that there is no need for the hatred towards a driver even if you dislike him. There are many toxic fans for and against Lewis. unfortunately its the same in nearly every sport these days.
